Abstract Architecture

Kisumu, Kenya

wigot gardens

12  / 01/  2024

This project involves the development  of seven units on a narrow, sloping 1-acre site, featuring four typologies designed to cater to the diverse needs of its users. At the heart of the development lies a centralized pool area with an outdoor bar, serving as the focal point and social hub of the design.

The planning and façade design draw inspiration from the surrounding landscape, adopting a rustic aesthetic through the use of a hybrid wood-and-steel structure, natural stone cladding, and neutral rendered walls.

Butterfly roofs are a prominent feature, facilitating clerestory lighting to enhance natural light within the interiors.

The site's sloping terrain has been thoughtfully addressed by positioning the typologies on different levels. Interconnected by ramps, the design ensures universal accessibility while maintaining seamless transitions across the space
